Toronto restaurants run the gambit from expensive and elegant to budget and eat on the run. They are truly an international city with representation of cuisines from many parts of the world including Italian, Asian, Greek, and their own Canadian style of cooking. There are steakhouses and burger joints giving patrons a little bit of everything for a variety of prices. If you enjoy food, then Toronto is the place to be.

One of the most elegant and visible restaurants sits a top the CN tower and revolves a full 360 degrees with floor to ceiling windows for a full view of the city of Toronto. The name is, appropriately, the Restaurant 360 and it offers a moderate menu along with a choice of over 550 different types of wines from all over the world. This restaurant has won awards for the food but has won more for the novelty of being 114 stories above ground level. Reservations are advised and meals will cost about C$70 to C$100 and wines can go upward to over C$1000 per bottle.

If you want to impress someone take them to either Splendito or Truffles for meals that may cost over C$100. Find Splendito in the Distillery District. The menu changes with the season as seasonal foods are used to create some of the best modern Mediterranean food on earth. You can choose from two menus. The regular a la carte menu is available but you may want to try the tasting menu where you will only get a small sample of many different choices of food. Go to the four Seasons’ Hotel to the restaurant called Truffles for some really wonderful award winning food. The ambiance is very elegant and the food is true French Cuisine.

If these restaurants are a little steep for your taste you can go down a notch to some moderately priced restaurants that will cost you C$35 to C$75 per meal. A great Canadian restaurant is Canoe Restaurant and Bar where maple sugar reigns supreme. The local fruits and berries are used to make wonderful offerings and there is even the choice of venison or caribou on the menu. This restaurant is right on Toronto Harbor and the ambiance is similar to that of a forest lodge. Make sure to secure reservations because it is not open on the weekends.

If you want something unique and interesting try Lolita’s Lust near Greektown in Toronto. This is a fun restaurant with interesting recipes of meats and seafood.

Budget restaurants in Toronto will give you great food at a great price. Fran’s in the Midtown area is a down to earth place that gives you food at a great price and a lot of it. Meatloaf is supreme here along with chicken wraps and tuna melts. It is open 24 hours and serves a huge breakfast platter at all times.

Fresh on Bloor (on Bloor Street) is an affordable health food restaurant with great tasting food. Not only does it have the great food it also features 40 different juices and some of them are very interesting.

For those who are budgeting, remember to factor in taxes. Toronto imposes three different taxes on food consumed in a restaurant that will not be included in the menu price. They are added on to the bill after you eat. They include the 8% provincial sales tax, 10% alcohol tax, and the 5% federal goods and services tax. Irregardless you can find exactly the type of food you want to satisfy in Toronto. The restaurants above are a minuscule sampling of what is available in Toronto and you only have to go to the city and explore to find many more.

See what the City of Toronto has to offer by dining at a Toronto restaurant this weekend. If you’re in Quebec, then a restaurant Montreal is a great idea for spending some quality time.

American home brewing adapts to the changes in the political and economic climates of the country. Back in the 90s, America had been the top producer of beer. However, with the global recession that is happening now, many companies are closing. Although of course, some argue that as the economy worsens, beer sells more – many get depressed and thus forget their economic woes through the messy route of drinking. Some people, instead of wasting precious money by raking the bars every night, adapt to the situation – and that is by turning towards home made beer.

As was mentioned, American home brewing has been very flexible through time. Back in the old America, home brewing was already a part of colonial lives. Even famous personalities such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were home brew aficionados.

During the prohibition, no one was allowed to brew their own drinks at home. A penalty of one thousand dollars was imposed on those who were caught – and back then one thousand dollars went a long way. Either that or they were sentenced one year imprisonment. Everybody had to content with a watered down lifeless beer – well not really beer but something which was a very poor substitute for it. Nothing substantially alcoholic was allowed and few took efforts in making their drinks less alcoholic but tasty. Thirsty daring beer lovers stealthily bought ingredients and beer brewing equipment. Some very enterprising shop owners found ways of selling them without associating them with beer making or anything about beer at all. Beer ingredients, after all, are as normal as other ingredients – grains, yeast, etcetera, and the equipment – buckets, vats, what really is there to question when they are put up for sale? The situation varied from state to state. In some states, only those selling home brews were caught while in some, brewing for personal consumption also meant facing legal charges. And since ingredients and materials had to be sold and bought discreetly, there really was nothing much to experiment on. Those years could probably be considered the dark ages for home brewing.

Before beer was allowed to be brewed at home, a change in law allowed people to make their own wine at home, but now people had to obtain a permit to brew beer at home… strange but true. Even though there were strict regulations, this breath of fresh air was welcomed by the home beer brewing community. One off this first home beer brewers was Charlie Papazian, and he took it to himself to start teaching others how to brew their own beer at home… it was tough going as for those that didn’t have a permit it was illegal, but Charlie kept the dream alive.

Over time, all the ridiculous rules about brewing beer at home were fully relaxed with Jimmy Carter signing an amendment in 1978 to allow home brewers the opportunity to brew up to 200 gallons of beer a year without any permits or other silly nuances. This then sparked interest far and wide for the American Home Brewer and really led the emergence of a beer nation like no other.

American Home Brewing is happening and booming today, so of-course it’s time to sit down, relax, and have a home brew.

If you’ve got a hard time quitting drinking, this article is for you. This isn’t AA but sit down and read on to find out about the alcohol cure without using Alcoholics Anonymous.

Did you ask God to help you get your life straight? Do you think being in a group such as AA will help you quit? Do you think AA will help you quit alcoholism?

What you absolutely need is a little belief. You don’t need to trust in a higher power, but for some that could be beneficial. You, most important of all, need to believe in yourself. You can do it! Humans, like you and I, have the amazing capacity to achieve anything we put our minds to You just need to put your mind to accomplishing this task.

I’m sure you know that alcohol is bad for your body. Your human body will treat it as poison too. Most of all, you’ll damage your liver. There aren’t any vitamins or minerals in 100% of alcoholic drinks. You don’t need it. Toss that flask in the trash bin right now and dump your vodka down the drain, that’s all you need! If you really need the alcohol, it might be too hard for you to quit straight up like that and you should see a doctor first.

Always envision success. Remember what you are striving to achieve. You want to lose some pounds or just get back your bodily hygiene and stop having your bad breath. Forget about the alcohol.

So, that is the fact. Not too hard, eh? Really, in the end, that’s all there is to it. Just do it. In the end when you succeed, you’ll only have yourself to thank for and you’ll be really glad you took this challenge on.

If you are like most wine enthusiasts - or even those who enjoy just a casual glass of wine with dinner - purchasing a wine refrigerator makes sense! Anyone who drinks wine knows that the best taste is achieved when the wine is chilled. Storing wine in a pantry or closet is not practical either because conditions can fluctuate causing deterioration in the quality of the wine and spoilage.

If you are like most wine enthusiasts – or even those who enjoy just a casual glass of wine with dinner – purchasing a wine refrigerator makes sense! Anyone who drinks wine knows that the best taste is achieved when the wine is chilled. But chilling and storing your fine wines and champagnes in your home refrigerator isn’t the answer because regular refrigerators simply will not control and temperature and humidity properly. Storing wine in a pantry or closet is not practical either because conditions can fluctuate causing deterioration in the quality of the wine and spoilage. Additionally, wine should be stored on its side so that the cork stays moist, and this type of storage can only be achieved with a specially made wine bottle refrigerator with individual compartments for each bottle.

In case you’re a novice with wines and are looking to buy your first refrigerator, let’s review the ideal wine storage temperatures. The ideal temperature for storing and cooling wines is 55 to 58 degrees Fahrenheit. The best serving temperatures vary somewhat based upon the specific wine: champagne and sparkling wines 53-57 degrees F; light red wines 54-57 degrees F; rich red wine and full-bodied vintages 59-68 degrees F; light red 54-57 degrees F. When you are considering which refrigerator to purchase, make sure to take into account these temperatures and what type of wine you prefer in order to be able to select the best refrigerator for your needs.

We must also consider humidity when selecting a wine fridge. For maintaining the best taste for wine, humidity levels of approximately 70% RH are optimal. When stored at this humidity level, the cork will stay moist and oxygen is unlikely to seep into the bottle which can result in spoilage. Wine refrigerators are able to maintain a consistent humidity level which will properly store your wine collection.

Last but not least, another factor you must consider when choosing your wine refrigerator is your budget. If your budget is limited, consider purchasing a small wine cooler (such as a compact 12-bottle fridge) which is the ideal way to get started if you have only a few bottles you want to store. There are many models to choose from which will provide you years of enjoyment. Of course, if your wine investment/hobby is more serious and your budget is less restrained, you can select a refrigerator that will easily store 200 or more bottles.

Purchasing a wine refrigerator to store all your wines of different types is a must for anyone who drinks or serves wine. A beginning hobbyist as well as more serious wine collector will see multiple benefits from optimal wine storage.

When you think of wine goblets, you probably think of big meals from centuries ago, where a candlelight meal is featuring all kinds of roasts and ancient drinks. This is the image that forms in most of our minds, and with good reason. We’ve often seen this in pop culture, ranging from movies to television shows.

The most popular wine goblets are crystal, pewter, which was used back in time for centuries, and metal ones like silver, but there’s a far more affordable alternative for someone who doesn’t feel like paying $30, $50, or even hundreds of dollars for one single goblet. By opting for plastic goblets, you’ll save yourself a lot of money in the process, and potentially some headaches too.

Plastic goblets are also offered in a very wide variety of colors and styles. These can be quite festive, depending on how adventurous you’d like to be with them.

And, of course, they’re far more affordable than crystal and metal wine goblets. You’ll enjoy tremendous cost savings when it comes to plastic goblets.

If you’re not a huge wine drinker or have kids in the household, you’ll like the fact that you can very easily use them for more than just wine consumption. Other beverages, and even things like pudding or gelatin, can be used in wine goblets with a plastic composition.

You’ll often see them in restaurants too, and you’ll probably notice some at your favorite dining spots now that you’ve learned this.

The money saved on plastic goblets may be well worth the sacrifice, unless it’s a formal event that you need these for.

One of the best aspects of plastic goblets is the fact that it really does take a lot to break them. While goblets made of crystal can easily shatter if mishandled or washed the wrong way, plastic goblets should last for years without the worry of breaking them.

Get the best advice on plastic goblets and all wine goblets now.

The basic concept of how wine is produced is for the most part, is common knowledge. We all know that grapes are squished and fermented for a period of time to turn into wine. But, the process of making wine is an art that is reserved for those who put in the effort

Crushing & Pressing Generally speaking, 50 pounds of grapes yields five gallons of wine. Once you harvest your grapes, you must place them in a plastic vat (found at any wine-making shop) for crushing. Always make sure to fill your vat only 2/3 so as not to waste any of the smashed grape mixture. Foot grape crushing methods have proved to be effective and easy to employ. For smaller amounts of grapes, you can crush them with a potato smasher, or simply your hands. Once the must (name given to grapes after they are smashed) is done, you must add potassium metabisulfite in order to prevent the growth of unwanted yeasts that can affect the taste of your wine. This chemical can be purchased in Campden tablets, and the recommended dose is to be added to the must. The mixture is then covered with a cloth and left to sit for a day.

Fermentation After the mixture has rested for a day, its time to add 1 packet of wine yeast (not to be confused with bread yeast). The most common types of wine fermenting yeasts are Montrachet and Prix de Mousse. To stir in the yeast, use your hands so as to elevate the temperature of the must and activate the yeast. Using your fingers, comb through the mixture and remove the stems, crushing any fruits that were left attached to them. Cover with a cloth, and let it sit again. Within 48 hours, the must should begin to fizz and it will look like its boiling by the third day of fermentation. When a week passes, the fizzing will stop and the wine will be ready to be filtered of seeds, pulp and any leftover grape skin.

Filtering To filter it, the wine can strained using a cheese cloth or mesh bag. Make sure to squeeze the must thoroughly to remove all juices. The resulting liquid is to be stored in a glass carboy or into an empty wine barrel (also available at your local wine supply store). From this point on, oxidization of the wine must be prevented at all costs by eliminating all contact with air. Many wine makers choose to use an airlock to keep oxygen out, but allow gases produced during fermentation to escape.

Racking At this stage, it will only take 2-3 weeks for the fizzing to stop. Once the fizzing stops, its time to rack the wine. Racking will remove what is called the lees from the wine. Lees is the used up yeast and grape pieces that remain, unconsumed, at the bottom of the barrel of carboy. A common way of doing this, is siphoning the wine out of the container to clean the bottom. Once the bottom of the lees has been removed, the wine is to be poured back into the container. A second racking will be required 2-3 months after the first, with a third and final racking 3-4 months after that.

Once the third racking is completed, the wine is ready to be aged. Aging must be done in a very dark, cool place, with just one rule of thumb that is easy to remember: the longer the aging, the better the wine.

It happened on a Sat. night. You hosted a wine tasting party for a group of 12 buddies, and everything went perfectly. Well, just about everything. It did not take you long to find out that, while you had the ideal combination of cheeses, crackers and reidel wine glasses, folks were consistently confusing their glass with some other person’s.

You were embarrassed, particularly when that fact became the thing that just everyone made jokes about. Now, you are planning another get-together and you want to avoid this problem with reidel wine glasses decorations, but how does one begin?

Purchasing Reidel Wine Glasses Decorations:

Nearly every dep. store carries reidel wine glasses decorations. They literally look like small earrings with different charms on every one and are designed to go around the stem of the wine glass to mark it as individual for different guests.

These charms are often sold in packages of 4 or six and cost anywhere from five to twenty dollars depending on where they are purchased, the material they’re made from, and how ornamental these reidel wine glasses decorations are.

One of the most creatively fun concepts to take part in, for a group of good friends, is to build your own reidel wine glasses decorations. It is wonderfully easy and they’re going to love it.

In truth, you can even consider sending the personalized charms home as party favors. All you have got to do is go to your local craft store and pick up stainless-steel or nickel plated wire hoop findings. While you are on the same aisle, pick up a few charms that you believe will be great identity markers for your chums, and perhaps some beads for color.

When you get home, slide the beads and charms onto the hoops, fasten the hoops round the stems of each glass, then wait to see the smiles on everybody’s face as they realize how much trouble you went to exclusively for them. Possibilities are, they will all instantly forget the last time and will just enjoy the individualized attention you have put into their evening.

Or, if you like, you can drop all of the newly made charms into a basket and have each person pick out their own charm at the start of the evening; this way, you know they can spot the charm and will not be as likely to confuse their reidel wine glasses with someone else’s again.

Finding the right reidel wine glasses selection will be really simple. What you need to do is visit our reidel wine glasses website for readily available information on different wines.

Grape growing has been in the history books since the early development of farming practices. The techniques that are used today to manage and maintain a grapevine, have been perfected over centuries of trial and error. Like in any plant-growing process, weeding, pruning and pest control are required regularly to maintain a healthy vine, and to tame your plant to grow at a certain pace, and in the right directions. This process can take a few years, since the vine wont be fully mature until the third year of growth when it gives fruit. However, this enables the grape grower to tame the plant effectively for the very first harvest, and to obtain a top quality wine making grape in the very first picking.

Pruning is simply getting the plant growth to encourage more growth

Pruning is the action of clipping back shoots and cutting excess foliage to control the plants growth and to ensure that no energy is being spent feeding dry or unnecessary plant sections. Grapevines are trained to maintain a consistent plant shape, size and productivity; a process that takes about the time it takes to grow your first harvest.

Pruning Your Vine

After the trellis is set up and the grapevine is planted, vines will be permitted to grow from one main shoot that is tied vertically to the trellis. Any other shoots must be clipped back to prevent their growth. After the following dormant period, you must establish what will be the arms of the grapevine where your fruit will grow on. To do this, you tie two of the shoots that emerge from main shoot, horizontally onto the trellis. Make sure to trim back all other shoots to prevent their growth. After this step, the grapevine will begin to take shape on its own, with a pruning during the dormant season to help the plant. Pruning during dormant seasons is crucial to the harvest of healthy and flavorful grapes.

The Pruning Benefits

The way in which you will prune your grapes once they have taken shape, depends entirely on the type of grape that you choose to grow. If youve chosen a hybrid grape, you know these varieties are suitable for the winter since they endure both cold weathers, and many diseases. As they generally produce less foliage, they will generally require less work than a regular European variety of grapes.

Pruning will rid your grapevines of fruiting canes or spurs from previous years that are no longer productive. Vines canes only produce fruit during the first year of growth, so new, healthy canes must be grown consistently to secure your next harvest. Another benefit of pruning is the ability to reduce the amount of foliage in your vine, as well having control over your grapevines production. The amount of shoots that you clip will be proportional to size of your crop. If your crop seems to have excess foliage that creates a shady canopy, make sure to increase your regular pruning in order to maximize the amount of sunlight that the vines receive.

What to Use: Pruning Tool

Hand tools like loppers, hand pruners, and handsaws are typically used to prune grapevines. The goal for the grapevine owner is to avoid unnecessary injury to the plant. Most likely, when removing shoots that are one-year-old, hand pruners can be used effectively. On the other hand, larger wood should be cut with either the lopper or a handsaw.

Pruning is a simple process that will help you control the productivity and size of your vine, as well as the quality of the grapes it blossoms. Be patient during the first taming, and you are guaranteed to be rewarded with a top quality wine-making grape.

Anyone interested in the idea of buying wine goblets will have to do some thinking before deciding exactly what it is that they want. Aside from the obvious factors like price, it’s important that any goblets selected appeal to the personal preferences of the buyer.

For example, it’s critical that whatever you buy goes well with the rest of your dining room and table setting. If you have the budget, high quality crystal goblets will look beautiful just about anywhere, but not everyone can afford these. Then there’s the silver goblet, which looks great in older settings but might clash with a more modern table set.

If you do have something more traditional in place, silver goblets will make an excellent addition to your dining room. The quality of these is extremely high, and they can be found for quite competitive prices online.

Anyone eating at your table will most definitely appreciate the added touch, and they’ll feel like they were dining with King Arthur himself at the round table.

While these silver goblets are no doubt beautiful wine goblets, not everyone may have the financial means to afford them all. Much of the price will depend on the manufacturer and the grade of silver used, but these can be quite expensive.

However, you’ll be happy to know that there are far more affordable silver goblets available for purchase from a wide variety of retailers. Putting in a little time into exploring your options will result in you finding exactly what you’re looking for, at very reasonable prices.

While visiting stores can also expose you to a wide variety of options, you simply can’t find better deals on silver goblets and other wine goblets than you can online.

A quick search can yield hundreds of different options, and shipping prices are extremely reasonable as well. This is definitely the recommended course of action for anyone interested in goblet shopping.
